FLYING BISON
The Story of the
The flying bison was born from a crossroads of need and notoriety. As BRAVO 737 gained momentum and more flight simulation enthusiasts learned about our community, there was interest in not only downloading and flying our liveries, but doing it online.
As most know, the word "bravo" is the word in the ICAO phonetic alphabet for the letter "B." Hence, the callsign for BRAVO 737 couldn't be "bravo."
Because the base of operations for our community is in Oklahoma, USA, it made perfect sense to assign the word "bison" as our online callsign. As more flight simulator pilots flew our aircraft, instructions for Bison from air traffic controllers began to echo.
It only made sense to adjust the official BRAVO 737 House Livery by adopting the "Flying Bison" emblem and placing it prominently on each of our aircraft. Additionally, we felt it made sense to add a "Spirit of" salute to those locations our pilots and aircraft fly the most. Thus, we currently operate the Spirit of Colorado, Spirit of Oklahoma and the Spirit of New Mexico. Soon more aircraft will be rolling out including the Spirit of Arizona, Spirit of Nevada, Spirit of Utah and the Spirit of the Rockies on our first Boeing 737-900.
